Hello, and thank you for expressing an interest in the Spirits of Amoskeag story. I am so excited to finally get the book into your hands. It has been quite the journey in the making.
That said… some of you who purchased the very first printing may notice that the “Forward” is missing. If you have one of those 20 books, please let me know. I will send you a free PDF, e-book or Kindle version of the final edited book.
Now that all edits are complete, it will printed next week, with e-pub versions to follow. So many wonderful helping hands have made this story possible. Please let us know your thoughts about the book and your own special stories about the mills as we continue this journey.
Many Blessings,
Lois
Lois: I started reading your book, thinking it would be an “easy”, historical read. It’s not. It’s a touching, thought-provoking, heart wrenching story that is taking its toll on me, but an important story to tell. So grateful that these children are now at peace because of your and Peter’s work.
Hi Carolina,
Thank you so much for purchasing the book and for your sincere comment. I should have warned you that this is an intensely sad story. I always hold tight to the feelings of deep gratitude for all the joy in my world when I encounter tragic events that others have been exposed to. Although stories like these are more common than we would like to think, I know that these children are now in peace.
Think of the wonderful feelings of joy that you get from your precious children, and feel twice blessed that you are able to protect them from ever experiencing what these poor orphan children went through so many years ago.
Many Blessings,
Lois
Lois: You and Peter have produced a compelling and well-written story of the history of the mills of Manchester, NH and the treatment of workers before Unions and child labor laws were in place to protect them. I don’t just say that because you are my dear friend. I would have loved it no matter who wrote it. It is a gripping historical account of a dark time in our history and the heinous crimes that occurred, particularly to the children. I couldn’t put it down – I finished reading it within twenty-four hours of receiving it. Well done!!!!
